I am able to run the computer fine when it's not installed through my mobo, but when i install my graphics my monitor displays nothing. I've plugged my hdmi into both my motherboard and graphics card so I know thats not an issue. I have a 650 watt supply so its not lack of power. The card does light up when I install it, and the fans spin up but then slow down and stop I think. Ive plugged the graphics into both slots on my motherboard and yes my motherboard has both the 24 power in and the other 8 slot i think on the top left of the board.

I just read through the manual for your motherboard and the video card has to be in slot #1 and there is a setting in the BIOS that will select the boot device for video. You have to select [PEG] PCIe Graphics Device

Initiate Graphic Adapter [PEG]
Selects a graphics device as the primary boot device.
[IGD] Integrated Graphics Display.
[PEG] PCI-Express Graphics Device.

That is from page 47 of the manual.

I have to ask the simple question here. Did you plug your monitor into the graphics card or do you still have it plugged into the motherboard?

Your monitor HAS to be connected into the graphics card. Once installed it shuts down the motherboard HDMI and DVI ports.

I've done both, I have tried plugging HDMI into my motherboard and graphics card, to no avail

Ok, make sure that the card is in slot #1 or whatever slot your motherboard says is the primary slot for a x16 card. Next make sure you have the latest BIOS revision and video card drivers installed. Then go through the BIOS to be sure that you have the correct setting for running a PCIe video card and not the on board graphics.

Then only use the HDMI slot on the video card.
