8GT RAM 2,99 usable

Hello,

So i bought 8gt of RAM (1x 8gt) and installed it to my motherboards RAM-slots and when i go to My computer > properties it shows i have 8gt of RAM but only 2,99gt is usable ?

I have tried both slots and reset bios settings.

What is wrong ?

specs:
CPU: i3-2120
GPU Geforce GTX 750ti
MoBo: Asus p8h61-m PRO

1| What OS are you on? Please mention the architecture as well, i.e, 64 bit or 32bit.
2| Have you made sure your BIOS was up to date prior to the ram upgrade?
3| Speaking of ram upgrade, can you specify the make and model of the ram? Are you mixing and matching two stick of ram?
