I heard from my friend that he got a ethernet cable for his xbox one now, and he said that he got better download and upload speed, so when I heard about that I bought my self a ethernet cable (cat6), but then when I plug it in to the Xbox and did a speed test it was the same as my wireless speed. Why is this so and how do I get faster speed?

Solution
You may be limited by the internet package (WAN) speed you have. If you have a good router and the Xbox is close, you could get similar speeds with wired and wireless.
Your X Box One can't send and receive faster than your internet package allows. The internet that you pay for, that is supplied by your service provider, is one of the limiting factors in how fast everything else will work.

What you have learned is, your wireless connection was already fast enough to get all of the speed you are going to from your provider, unless you want to pay for higher tiered internet service, which isn't always available.

Switching to Ethernet for an internet connection only helps if the wireless connection is slower than the speed of your internet.
