Android 4.4.4, Wifi connects on its own???

I have everything unchecked under wifi > advanced first day it worked, but now it connects again... Is there a app that keeps wifi off untill you turn it on???

If you turn off WiFi, nothing should turn it on automatically for you. Just to to Settings, WiFi and move the slider to Off. Is that what you are doing? Or what settings are you talking about? If you are just turning off things in the Advanced section, none of those actually turn off the WiFi, those are all for things like notifications and connecting to hotspots, not turning WiFi off.

I turn wifif off & I pick up phone sometimes with it on...

Some phone has an option that prioritize data option. but you should do it manually. Just turn of the wifi off if you want to use it turn it on.
