DDR4-2800 MHz RAM on ASUS Crosshair VI Hero

So I was thinking about using 16GB G.Skill RAM running at DDR4-2800 MHz on an ASUS Crosshair VI Hero. Problem is, the "supported" speeds are (according to pcpartpicker.com): 2133, 2400, 2666, and 3200 MHz. So if I put some 2800 MHz RAM in it, will the RAM run at 2800MHz, will it even work, or will it run at a lower speed, or will it do something else? Thank you for your help...

If you were to manually tweak the ram's frequency in the BIOS then it might be possible. If it fails it'll go down to 2666MHz however you should follow suite with what AMD has released in terms of ram compatibility and the supported frequency intervals/range.

If you haven't purchased the ram kit, then buy a DDR4-3200Mhz kit.
