Ok this seems like a stupid question and it probably is, Is there a way to manually dedicate system RAM to the Intel HD 4000 as it currently shows "0MB Dedicated Memory" but it says it has "1792MB Shared System Memory" so im wondering if i can force the Laptop to dedicate 1GB of RAM to the IGPU. I tried looking through the BIOS but i couldn't find any setting allowing me to manually change the VRAM for the Integrated GPU.

Intel HD 4000
6GB 1333Mhz Ram

Solution
It makes no difference what is under dedicated because it has no dedicated and uses system ram as vram. For the hd 4000, 1792MB is the max allocation amount which is shown as the shared amount. What shows under dedicated can sometimes be controlled but is often locked in bios on oem pcs. It's a rather useless setting since setting it as allocated doesn't let it change back to being able to be used as system ram and running out of ram will result in a bigger performance hit than running out of vram. Windows vista and later will still share on top of that pre allocated amount so it makes no difference.

Hey Arron.

I skeptically tried looking for what you wanted to do even though I had confidence that it wasn't possible.
So, it turns out that you can't dedicate sys ram to GPU. However you can change the sys allocated memory for the GPU which usually in the order of 64,128,256 MB, that can be done from the BIOS.

That's all.

That's sad to hear :(
Would you be able to send me a link to a forum that shows you how to do it on My Dell Latitude E6430 as I've looked through the settings and BIOS 3 times and cant seem to find the option to change the allocated memory for my Intel HD 4000. Thanks in advance as it would be a lot of help.

There is no point dedication RAM to the graphics......unless your system is using all available RAM. By the RAM being shared, the whole lot is available to both the CPU and the IGPU, and it's only if you're using the entire RAM of your laptop that you would see any difference.

This topic has come up many times before. Windows 7, 8 and 10 automatically allocates shared memory space to the integrated graphics. You have no control over it. Even if you have the setting in bios to allocate memory for graphics, it's just a holdover from long ago. It does nothing, because Windows takes over control for shared graphics memory.
