So I have an old PC that I plan to upgrade (GPU wise, the CPU and RAM are fast enough for what I need) and I would like to know if anyone would like to help me set it up? Just with pictures or steps. I am not as much of a networking guy. I know my basic stuff but I am not one to set up dedicated servers so I need a bit of help.

So my network setup is very simple. The administrator PC on my network has a GTX 960 EVGA SSC ACX2.0 2GB, an AMD FX-4300 (manual OC to 4.0 GHz with all Bulldozer cores unlocked), 12 GB DDR3 1600 RAM; my network is simple, it is just CenturyLink DSL (but it's fast enough for everything I need.) The computer I want to run the server on is an old Dell, it is currently stock with an AMD dual core CPU and 4 GB of RAM, it's got integrated graphics but I updraged it with a NVIDIA GT 730 1GB. I just need tips and/or a guide on how to set up a server with that PC. Thanks!

True, and I don't want to do port forwarding. Any software that you know of that would work?

You may be able to avoid port forwarding by placing the server IP in the router DMZ. How you go about doing that will differ from router to router. As for the software that will depend on exactly what server you want up and running. There is no "gaming server" software that works for all games.

I don't want to port forward. I only want to run an MC server for a friend of mine because he can't afford one so I told him I'd set one up for him. But I don't want to port forward.
