Hey guys I am going to buy a 8gb stick of ddr3 from my friend and I was wondering if it was going to be compatable, I cant remember where from but I think I remember hearing something like you need to have two of the same for it to work, as in I cant put 1 x 2 gig and 2 x 4 gigs because there would only be 3 sticks of memory when there needs to be 4. If someone can tell me if this is true and go further on what I need to do to avoid this problem it would be much needed. Thank you

If the 1 stick is in its own channel, it should work. Many motherboards have 2 channels for memory, and you normally put same size in same channel, but 2x4 gb in one channel + 8gb in its own channel should work.
