I have a TP-Link Router TL-WR642G which I have been using for 7 years now. It has been working fine up until yesterday when I got my new fiber cable connection. My ISP gave me a ZTE GPON F660 router and I wanted to extend the wi-fi signal with my TP-Link router. When I first set it up it works really fine. I changed the SSID name on the TP-Link router a couple of times including its passkey. So by now I have 2 SSID, one from the router my ISP gave me and the other one from my TP-Link router.

Now this morning, I suddenly could not connect to my TP-Link router anymore. I tried the most common method like removing the power cable and wait a couple of seconds, resetting to the factory default by pressing the reset button on the rear, connecting directly with an ethernet cable, and so on with no luck at all. Even the reset button seems to have stopped working.

According to the TP-Link website and manual, when the button is pressed for at least 10 seconds, all the lights should then be turning on indicating that it is doing a hard reset. Mine doesn't even do that at all. I have tried holding the button for almost a minute long and still it is not resetting.

When I try to connect anyway to the TP-Link wi-fi SSID, which is still discoverable, I keep getting an error saying "network security key mismatch windows 7" even though I haven't changed the password since last time it successfully connect. No matter how many time I entered the password, turned CAPS LOCK on and off, input a static IP address, it still won't connect to it. Most of the time it says "limited access" and my network becomes an "unidentified public network" with the usual bench icon.

By this time, I'm assuming you all must have realized that I cannot access the TP-Link default gateway. I did changed the default gateway of it from the usual 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2 just so that it won't conflict with the other router from my ISP. Both address now is not directing me to the TP-Link router. When using the SSID in my ISP router, the 192.168.1.1 address is accessible to the ZTE GPON F660 router.

How do I hard reset the TP-Link router so that the SSID returns to the default TP-Link name and the rest of it to its factory default if the reset button is not doing anything at all?
