A customer wants to clone a vintage hard drive Model #RZ26L-E
It goes on a CNC Machining Center and they want to be able to replace the hard drive with something else at a later date.

I have 2 issues, first how do I clone it, and is there an adapter from the 50pin cable in the PC to a newer hard drive available?

That 50 pin interface is a SCSI interface. There are SCSI to SATA adapter boards, but they are LVD. You might be able to get one of them to work.

There are lots of RZ26L-E drives for sale. The best bet might be to buy a dozen replacement drives of the same kind and just put them on the shelf.

Purchasing those drives is an option, but does not answer how do I clone it? I was going to use a ide to usb adapters and run acronis from one drive to the other.

does anyone make a toaster style cloning unit for these old drives?
The problem is the PC and the hardware that is there this way and they just want to back up the drive in case it would fail. This is the major problem with mechanical CNC equipment and ever changing electronic equipment. Manufacturers spend half a million on a machine that they want to use for 50 years + but the computer hardware (the brains) is obsolete in under 10.
