So I have my HDTV and Dell monitor connected to my GTX 1080 ... The HDTV is 1080p and the Dell monitor is 1440p ... Here is the problem...

On the Dell monitor, when the resolution is set to 1440p everything is proper...

When I switch to the HDTV the text is kind of small and unreadable and Nvidia control panel shows the resolution to be 1440p...So then I have to change the resolution to 1080p...then everything is proper on the HDTV...

but then again when I switch back to the Dell, the resolution is automatically set to 1080p and the icons are too big.....

So here is my question, Is there a way to make the Nvidia driver keep 1440p on Dell and 1080p on HDTV ? So that I don't have to change the resolutions manually back to the native resolutions every time I switch displays ?

Allow me to clarify my question about the display set up. Not the physical connections, but what 'mode'? Extend? Or duplicate? As far as I can tell, this choice has to be made via Windows' Display settings and not the Nvidia Control Panel. From my own set up, the Nvidia Control Panel lacks this option. It's why I suggested Windows' Display settings as the starting point.

Additionally, which display is set as your main display?

As I mentioned it sounds like you have the displays on duplicate; at least on current information it would fit the description of the problem you're having.
How have you set up the displays?

As it is it sounds like the TV is just a copy of the monitor. This would explain the wrong resolution to me. Same when you adjust the resolution to 1080 and icons looking small on the monitor.

The starting point would be the display settings in Windows and make adjustments there.

I have a GTX 1080, monitor is connected to its display port and HDTV to its HDMI port...No matter what I do, I can't keep the HDTV to have 1080P res and the Monitor to have 1440p res....They both have to be 1080P or 1440p....I messed around with Nvidia control panel....but no luck...
