On the Msi gaming app and in msi afterburner it shows that my gtx 1080 is running at 130 mhz which is absolute joke considering i spent over £500 for it. Could anyone tell me if my parts are bottle necking it?

- MSI Z270 A pro
-gtx 1080 x gaming plus
- i5 7600k (not overclocked)
-16gb of ddr4 3200 mhz ram
-vs650 psu
windows 7 64 bit

Is 130 mhz a typo? If yes, then proceed reading.

Short answer no. Your CPU is the only think that can hold your system back but the 1080 is such a beast of a card, you are simply using a very less % of the card's capacity. Put the card in OC mode using the MSI Gaming App and then run furmark. Now look at those numbers. Hope this helped :)

oh i closed everything in the background and let the gaming app do its stuff do you think that is why its only showing 130mhz? and also it still shows 139mhz even when running rust in the background

It is a stress test for your GPU. Download it from HERE.
Fur rendering is especially made to overheat the GPU and is also a perfect stability and stress test tool (also called GPU burner) for the graphics card.
