First time building a computer here so dumb it down for me, but I got a z170x gaming 7 motherboard and currently have 1 stick of Ballistix 8g ddr4 ram on it and ordered another which arrived today. Tried putting it in the corresponding slot and it had the no posting problem but after taking it out it was fine. I've read trying each ram slot one at a time but each time I've read that and they "fix their problem" they have messed with their settings and I don't know how to do that even in the BiOs menu OR if the settings they changed remained the same in order to make the dual ram work. Please help!!!

Solution
Memory manufacturers guarantee the rated speed and timings of any memory to be obtainable only in the kit it is sold in. If you are adding an additional module of memory, the rated timings may not work due to the extra stress on the memory controller. Therefore, you will need to relax the timings and/or frequencies in order to get two modules sold as singles to work. Another option you may need to do is increase the dram voltages or reducing the CPU multiplier.
