Motherboard or power supply failure.

I'm using a 750 watt power supply from 2010, as well as an Asus P6x58D-e motherboard. Processor is an i7 930 overclocked to 3.8 GHz and an overclocked GTX 970.
Due to their age, it wouldn't surprise me if the PSU or mobo were failing.

I occasionally encounter a post screen stating 2.53 GHz instead of 3.8, followed by an overclock failure message (however, the OC is stable). Works fine after a restart, or going through the setup menu. In addition, sometimes when the computer goes to sleep, the fans and lights turn back on and keep running. the computer cannot be woken up after that without a hard shutdown.
I've tried plugging it into different power strips, and have still had issues. I'm now trying straight from the wall.

Does this seem like a power supply issue, or is it my motherboard?

Solution
Cooler Master is not a parts killer but does not make very many top quality units.

Just to be sure I would still borrow/purchase&return a PSU to test your system before RMAing/replacing your board.
