I just replaced the stock fan on my Hyper 212 Evo with a Noctua NF-F12 PWM fan. Immediately when I booted up my Asus P8Z77-M Motherboard said CPU FAN ERROR. It showed that the fan was running at about 300-350RPM so seeing on how it is in fact spinning at all I booted up, ran Prime 95 and checked my temps and everything was fine and the CPU Fan went up to 1000RPM. Am I fine?

Solution
I had an old 1155 asus motherboard some time ago that did a similar thing after I replaced the stock heatsink with a cooler master one. had to go into bios and disable the warning msg. it never bothered me again and never had any issues with the cpu fan either.
If it's doing it consistently, look up your motherboards settings for minimum fan speed for the CPU. I've had slow fans like that trigger the warning on motherboards where the fan was doing less than 400 RPM. Usually it's a setting you can raise up to match the new fans speeds.
