Static electricity felt on the back part of my rig

Hi everyone.

Lately, I am always zapped if I touch the back part of my rig, specifically, if I try to remove the adapter connecting the gpu to my monitor. The shock there is the strongest. My PSU is a Corsair VS450W, I've had it for almost 2-3 years. Could this be the culprit? I've never felt any shock from before, I don't know which component is creating the issue. Need some advice.

You still have a ground loop. The AVR needs to be plugged in to a grounded socket. My theory is that you have some capacitive/inductive coupling to the neutral wire of the PSU. The neutral is attached to the case of the PSU and is thus also in contact with the PC case. Since you don't have a path to discharge this, you're getting some charge build up on the PC case. Eventhough you're using an AVR, it still doesn't have a path to ground.

Do you have your rig plugged into a 3 prong wall socket or is it 2 prong wall socket? Based on your description, you may have a ground loop, because you're using a 2 prong - non-grounded wall socket. Your rig needed to be grounded.

I use an AVR also. This is what I use to power up my monitor, rig, and speakers. It is connected to an extension cord that is plugged in a 2-prong socket, yes -- a non-grounded wall socket. I had this issue before but it was because of my old PSU(before upgrading to this Corsair VS450). Now, I am trying to figure out if it is the power supply again, hopefully not. If I change my AVR, will it help?

So should I reseat everything inside my PC Case? Also check the wiring inside of it? Btw, thanks, man!
