So, was thinking of upgrading my rig to an SLI Gtx970 build, and was wondering if it would be worthwhile, as I've never SLI'd before. Looking to run solid 60fps 1080p ultra settings in newer titles as those are the current specs my monitor will support, and I'm on the verge with some games at the moment (Witcher 3, Mass effect Andromeda, nier automata, etc.). Current specs are:
Ryzen 5 1500x @4.0
Asus X370 Pro Mobo
16 gb DDR4 Ram
Gtx 970 Strix GPU
760 watt seasonic PSU
Looking to use an MSI 970 as my second card. I wouldn't be upgrading to anything better than the SLI for a while as I found a great deal on the 970 locally, but was wondering if it was worth getting in the first place. Thanks in advance!

I'm not an AMD expert but I believe that Ryzen should be fine. A second 970 would do the trick but. . . .I had 2 G1 970's before my 1080SLI build. They were awesome and averaged 75-120+ in 1080p and playing Witcher 3, 2, Crysis 2,3, Metro's, you name it. Problem is that SLI support is getting more dodgy by the day. The other issue is that Vram. Day by day more textures are getting added to games and even at 1080p 3.5GB is starting to be a low ceiling for gaming.

Don't SLI for 1080p Ultra. A well made 1070 should do the trick or maybe a 1080 for the right price(1st choice if you can afford it for 1080p Ultra). Everything else looks good for that build.

Plus if you go 1440p sometime in the future a 1070/1080 will still have favorable...
