Looking to build a budget gaming PC

So, I have saved up £800 for a PC, monitor, keyboard, mouse and headset for gaming. It is my first build and I have tried to plan out parts but I have a few problems. I'm not sure on how much to spend on each component, whether I should OC, which parts bottleneck what. I will want to play:
1) Overwatch
2) PUBG
3) Rainbow Six Siege
and if possible, I would like to try streaming.

I would be very grateful if anyone would plan out a parts list that best suits me. Please include monitor and all that jazz too.

Thank you all so much in advance. This website is amazing!

Hi there,
I would suggest you get a gtx 1050 Ti as anything above that is currently not budget friendly. This will give you decent 60 fps on average. z270 mobos are expensive coming to a total of ~100$. An i5 7600k will be perfect but certainly is much more expensive. For now you can get a Pentium G4560 which won't break your bank at all. 8 Gb Ddr-4 ram will suffice for now and you can add more ram in the future. AMD Ryzens might be expensive where you are and cost similar to the i5 7600k.

Here's the part list:

PCPartPicker part list: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/jdxgWX
Price breakdown by merchant: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/jdxgWX/by_merchant/

CPU: Intel - Pentium G4560 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor (£54.51 @ BT Shop)
Thermal Compound: Arctic Silver - 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver 3.5g Thermal Paste (£6.49 @ Overclockers.co.uk)
Motherboard: Gigabyte - GA-Z270P-D3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (£94.98 @ Amazon UK)
Memory: ADATA - XPG Z1 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2800 Memory (£50.63 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Seagate - BarraCuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£37.99 @ Aria PC)
Video Card: EVGA - GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB FTW GAMING ACX 3.0 Video Card (£133.42 @ Amazon UK)
Case: BitFenix - Nova ATX Mid Tower Case (£26.99 @ Aria PC)
Power Supply: Corsair - CXM 550W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply (£64.80 @ Alza)
Optical Drive: LG - GH24NSD1 DVD/CD Writer (£14.40 @ Ebuyer)
Monitor: Asus - VG248QE 24.0" 1920x1080 144Hz Monitor (£229.97 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £714.18

I didn't add a keyboard, mouse and headset. It's personal preference and you can get good ones for a 100 pounds. I would recommend changing the processor for a 7600k and buying an evo 212 cooler.

Or if you can save up another 100£ you can get THIS computer and buy a monitor for 150.

while this build is great, saving up a little more and getting a ryzen will be much worth it, the price tag vs the extra cores/threads u get will allow u to stream much better than using a 2/4 or 4/4 from intel, without breaking your banks as bad as an i7 7700k can. (more core/thread will also gives u less stuttering in games)

in the GPU case, i agree with mbilal2
anything beyond GTX 1050ti and under GTX 1080 is in a mess right now bcz of all the mining craze, i suggest u get the 1050ti first and wait until Vega - Volta release / the craze goes down :D

Thank you for your replies. I don't need a DVD writer as I've already got a USB one just so you know. I just ha e a few questions:

How good are B250/350 and a320 motherboards?
Is it worth waiting for the mining craze to end (I would like to have built the PC by the end of August)?
How many fans do I need?

Thanks in advance

b250 are for intel's non OCable CPU, B350 are for Ryzens and supports OC feature, and the A320 is pretty much the non-OC mobo for Ryzen/
Don't get A320, all Ryzen CPU are OCable so getting a320 is like shutting down 1 of its main feature...

Sorry to bother you again but I'm a console scrub (only joking, they're great at their price point) so I'm a bit clueless.

1) Do I need an SSD?
2) Is 144Hz necessary with my budget coz it's seems really expensive?

Thanks again!

1. No you don't need an SSD, though it will improve performance quite a bit. It is simply not budget-friendly.
2. No you don't need 144 Hz. If you plan on playing on 60fps, a 1920x1080@60/75 Hz will do.

Invest that money in a better processor. It will be worth it.

i agree with this guy, SSD and 144hz monitor is pretty much a luxury item, meant for enthusiast / well funded gamer
GTX 1050ti won't reach that 144 mark on med-high settings anyway

btw, if u need some gaming friend, u can add me :D

Thank you for all the advice! I'm halfway through a build on pcpartpicker but I ran into a problem. Can you OC on the Ryzen 5 1400's or 1500X's stock coolers because where I live, it's cheaper to upgrade to the 1500X just for the better cooler.

1) How many fans do I need?
2) Should I wait for this mining thing to end if stuff will be cheaper?

Thank you all for your help, it's been amazing! Is there any way I can rate you or promote you?

1. yes you can actually, how many fan u need depends on how much u OC i think, as i never OC my CPU (my CPU is pentium so don't expect me to do that bro) but OCing with stock cooler is doable to a certain extend
2. u don't have to, since u can just get 1050ti and later on upgrade to 1080 immediately, but if u do want to wait while collecting more money, u can :D u can also just wait for at least Vega released, since they might have some impact on lowering the 1070-1080's prices

All Ryzen processors are overclockable. The ryzan 1###X do NOT come with a stock cooler (except 1500X). Only the 1### (no X at the end) come with a stock RGB cooler. If you are going to get the 1500X, you will not need a separate cooler.

1. On the case, a minimum of 1 is necessary to remove all the hot air being produced by your CPU and GPU. Most cases come with one so look into the specifications section of the case. I would recommend 2, depending on your case. One at the back above the USB ports and other either at the front or the side (depends on the case. Side fans > Front fans).

2. The mining only affects graphics card and not (significantly) any other parts. If you are going to get a GTX 1050 Ti, you shouldn't have any trouble with the prices. You can buy it right away. GTX 1060,1070 and 1080 are affected the most by crypto mining. If you intend to buy the 1060, 1070 or 1080, I suggest you wait it out. As of now there is no indication the prices will come down anytime soon.

You can up-vote using the arrow to the right side and select "pick as best solution" for the most helpful answer.

Make sure to send us a link to your parts so we can give you suggestions!

Cheers :)

correction, the 1500x do come with a cooler dude, the other X version doesn't though (1600x,1700x,1800x)
1080 also not really got affected by mining craze, the one that gets the most impact from it were RX 470, 480, 570, 580, and GTX 1060, but since most of those card already went out of stock or overpriced, people start to look for other alternative, this is where 1070 comes in, 1080 is still not an alternative for them, yet. 1080 increased price is actually the impact of 1070 increase (if 1080 did had some price spike, coz there's still no news about that) bcz most of the mid end and high-entry level got snatched away like that, people are running out of option in building a gaming PC (since either get a 1050ti or 1080 is the only choice, people with limited budget either had to opt on the low-end, or all out on the high end)

Checked it ur right. Thnx for letting me know. I didn't even consider the AMD cards. 1, like you said overpriced atm and 2, 1050 Ti gives better performance than the AMD cards for the $. And no way I'm recommending a GTX 1080 on a budget gaming PC

Cheers
