While playing games such as Tekken 7 or Payday 2, my computer has the tendency to simply shut down and restart. Critical errors in event viewer simply list it as the computer shut down unexpectedly without any other notes to follow. I have listed my build below. The odd part of this, would be that I can play games such as CS:GO or league and have no problems. Then try running it again only to have this problem. I have run AIDA64 and this was the result. Currently am running prime95 for 1 hour with no problems and will try a graphic stress test like 3DMark later. Every part in this list is approximately 5 years old except for the 980ti, 850 evo and the cpu cooler.

edit: temps on GPU and CPU never go above cap around 65 and never go above 70.

I removed the fans from the part list but they are on the pcpartpicker link. Aside from the CPU cooler, I am running 2 - Fractal design 140mm HP-14 fans and one Be Quiet! Silent wings 3.

Just finished running memtest. One of my sticks are testing with errors so I will plan to RMA them when possible. However it seems unlikely that RAM would be the cause of the sudden shut down and restart while playing games especially since there are times when I can actually play a full game of something and still not shut down but shut down in other/most cases.

I have a friend with a spare psu which I will borrow at some time. I'd like to believe that its only the psu and not both my ram and psu failing. I have noticed that a lot of individuals who have had my problem have found that replacing the PSU tends to fix the problem.

Update: Ran 3DMark Fire strike with a score of 12755 and did not crash at all during the testing. Tried running payday 2 for about 10 minutes in to Car shop (a mission) and PC shut down and restarted.
