Im going to build a pc and im willing to resue some old parts from my previous build which is about 8 years old by now, i've got some old 512mbx2 ddr2 cards, will i be able to use those along with my new ram that is going to be 4gbx2 ddr4 cards?

Nope you cant mix DDR2 with DDR4. You can use your old drives, video cards, or addin cards. Many old monitors and external devices should also work.

Any reason why it wont fit?, is it a software problem or a hardware one, will the mobo not recognise it or will it not fit?

It physically will not fit. The slots on the RAM and in the slot are in different locations, for this reason specifically.
