Hey guys, I had all 4 of my Corsair Vengeance RAM sticks working in a my computer a little while ago. A couple of weeks ago I noticed my computer not detecting all the installed RAM (it was 12gb detected rather than 16gb). So I moved my RAM around and noticed one was dead. Today I installed a new GPU, and had a lot of issues with it booting after that. I followed the steps here. (http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems) My computer started booting again with just one RAM card in, and I proceeded to install all my other peripherals just fine, EXCEPT for the rest of the RAM. I identified one card that I know is working and tried testing it in all of my 1 slots (A1, B1, C1, D1) and I can tell that some of the slots are definitely not working. I cannot get the computer to good to BIOS with the card in C1 or D1. So are those slots dead for sure? Can I use some of my 2 slots for all 4 sticks? The recommended configuration is A1-D1 for 4 sticks, but I don't want to RMA my motherboard unless I have to, and my CPU heatsink is blocking B2 and C2. I built this computer about 6 or so years ago, so I know it's not a bent CPU pin, it must be the motherboard.
