I do not think my PC is running as well as it should

Hello!

When i bought my pc i expected a lot, Its overkill after all. But when i got lag spikes in normal games like Rust and Counterstrike, i started wondering.

Motherboard: MSI B250 KRAIT GAMING
GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 8GB ROG Strix
CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.2Ghz
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3I CPU Cooler
Power supply: Corsair CX750W PSU
RAM: Ballistix S DDR4 2400Mhz 16GB
HDD: Seagate Barricuda 1TB
SSD: Samsung PM961 SSD 256GB
OS: Windows 10

- Check CPU and GPU temperatures when under load
- Ensure all drivers are up to date
- Ensure the disks have been cleaned / optimised as far as possible and regularly
- Run Malware / Antivirus scans
- Monitor background resource usage using something like resource monitor to check if any background programmes are hogging hardware resource
- Ensure that whichever storage drive you are using, it is below 75% capacity, general rule of thumb is beyond that kind of percentage, the drive can be working under more stress
