So, couple of days ago I found a microSD card from my old phone which suddenly stopped working couple of years ago while being used in the phone. It wasn't being detected at all when I tried to use it in the old phone or a tablet I had at the time so I thought it was done for good, but now I have a card reader so I decided to plug it in my PC and to my surprise it was recognized, size was displayed correctly and I was able to get in and see the files.. for a couple of seconds that is, until Windows reported a message saying that there is a problem with the drive, after that it acts like I disconnected it from the PC but the Removable Disk icon is still displayed although it's transparent and when it's clicked, it says Please insert a disk into into removable disk F from which i assume the card is still detected by Windows to some extent.

I tried changing the drive letter with disk management, tried chkdsk, tried various recovery software but the card always acts like it is not present after the Windows error message.

It was tested on 2 desktops, 2 laptops and a phone, on one laptop it doesn't stop being recognized, although opening a folder can take a couple of minutes to load, but when I try to copy the files or use recovery software they just get stuck in a loop and progress bar doesn't seem to move at all even after couple of hours. PCs are running Windows 8.1 and 10. Phone says it needs to format the card before it can be used.

Does anyone have any idea how to recover the files? I don't want to send it to a recovery service if there is a way I can do it myself.

Thanks in advance, Johnny.
