I have decided to go the seperate headphone and mic route for gaming and found the sennheiser hd 650 headphones, but i'm not sure about buying them. I first want to know if there is a better pair before shelling out 300 dollars. I want them for high quality gaming in competitive and leisure gaming, thanks.

HD 650s are open back headphones which means a lot of ambient noise is audible. For competitive gaming, especially in a LAN party or tournament setting would not be ideal.
Also since they are high impedance, they won't be real loud without a headphone amp.

open back headphones are better for gaming as they provide better 3d hearring in game. gaming closed back phones are a scam.
