I have evga supernova 550 g3 psu with i7 6700K. I'll buy gtx 1080 (ftw2 or amp extreme). Is my psu enough for them?

Solution
I never recommend using less than what the manufacturer calls for :

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/10series/geforce-gtx-1080/

Thermal and Power Specs:
94 = Maximum GPU Temperature (in C)
180 W = Graphics Card Power (W)
500 W = Recommended System Power (W)4
8-Pin = Supplementary Power Connectors

So yes, you'd be fine with the G3 running a standard card at stock settings. Now lets look at the Amp Exteme

The non reference cards will pull a bit more power.

It's probably enough but for safety, you should always have more watts accessible in your PSU. The EVGA Supernova 550 G3 is BARELY enough to handle a 6700k and a 1080. Other computer components should be a minor concern when it comes to worrying about their power consumption, however do note that it does add up.

Here we see that your selected card draws 245 under peak gaming, substantially more than the 184 watt reference card. So that would put you at about 550 and I think you'd be fine.

However that's just fine for stock loads.

Here we see that the chosen card allows for a 20% power boost so that's 245 + 20% = 294..... 114 more than the reference card .... and sat + 40 for max CPU OC.

Am I worried that the G3 will blow up ? No, not at all.

Would I be concerned about voltage stability at maximum overclocks ? Yes.... if I was gonna spring for the extra bucks to get that card, I'd spring for a better / larger PSU.

It is perfectly fine. There is no need to go any higher.

Why would you be concerned of that? Have you seen reviews of the G3, the voltage stability is superb at full load. It would have better voltage stability than some average 850W PSU even.
