Hello guys, i need your help once again. Here is my problem. I have R9 270X Toxic and i put new paste now after i bouth my GPU 2 years ago. Here is my problem, GPU in idle is around 40C which is ok, i think, but when i start up any game, fans and temps goes rapidly up, fans are 3000 RPM+ (once seen 4500rpm), and temp jump from 40C all the way to 75-80C in just a few seconds. Before i changed thermal paste, GPU idel was the same, but in games was like 60C with 2000rpm at the most. What did i do wrong? Pls help me, im affraid it will die if i streas it out more. Thermal paste is Thernal Grease HY710. (Sry for bad english)

a quick question what paste are u using?if the previous paste is better than what you are using now then that might be the cause.also some paste need some time to properly adjust itself.

Heatsink is properly connected, or otherwise GPU wouldnt be able to stay at 40C in ideal mode. I put paste and spread it on chip with my finger and add just a little bit on top of that just to be on the safe side.

that sounds like too much paste.might want to use just a lil bit and let the heatsink spread the paste all over the die.have u check if everything is properly connected?

Everything is in order as before. And paste is less then before. When i opened it, paste was all over chip and on the sides like it is for CPU god damn, so i put less, but not to little. I took it to servise this morning and they dont know what to do with it, even tho they open it in front of me and said everything is as it should be. I guess i will not be playing games for some time until i get new GPU and sell this for parts.

As i said above, i was using Thernal Grease HY710 and after few days of hitting my head against wall, i bought Deep Cool Z3 thermal paste to test it out, guess what, GPU is fine, working like a charm, so conclusion is...don't put HY710 on your GPU, it's not good. Kookie3010 thank you for being here with me, i hope this will help someone in future to not have a headacke like i was.
