So here is my build specs.
MB: MSI Z270 GAMING PRO CARBON LGA 1151 Intel Z270
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Gaming X+
CPU: Intel Core i7-7700 Kaby Lake Quad Core 3.6 GHz
SSD Drive: Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" 1 TB SATA III
Case: Fractal Design Define R5
Power: EVGA SuperNOVA 80+ Gold 750 Watt
CPU Fan: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 120 mm Fan
RAM: G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200
I'm in the ordering process - trying to get the best deals. Unfortunately, like an idiot I got the motherboard. Instead of getting the MSI Z270 GAMING PRO CARBON (about $175) I got the MSI - Z270 PC MATE (I found it for $100!).
I thought I'd immediately return the wrong board but after taking a look at the specs I'm wondering if everything would be just fine keeping the less fancy-pants board. I'm afraid the board would become the proverbial "choke point" of the build though, either with speed or heat.
My question is: should I be happy with my mistake or suck it up and return the Z270 PC MATE for the Z270 Gaming Pro Carbon?
Thanks in advance!
