Im currently updating a pc from a fresh install. It finished updating the drivers but now I cant use my mouse nor my keyboard. It was ASMedia usb hub driver for my z170 msi motherboard.

What can I do? I dont have a working PS2 device. I only have a standard keyboard and I have tried to plug the keyboard and mouse into the only 2 usb 2.0 ports and now I cant even touch the system anymore. Idk how am I suppose to restart the computer. Help!

Ah ok. There is Asmedia USB controller on that board. But the driver is only for 2 ports on back panel - USB 3.1 gen2 + gen2 type-c.
Rest of USB ports are provided by Intel Z170 chipset.

Did you install Intel chipset driver?
BTW - what windows version did you install? Windows 7/8 also require installation of Intel USB 3 drivers.

Well - you have several options:
1. Boot into safe mode and uninstall Asmedia USB drivers;
2. Boot from windows installation media and use System Restore;
3. If your windows is Pro version, you could connect remotely with remote desktop and uninstall Asmedia USB drivers;
4. Get ps2 keyboard/mouse;
5. Reinstall windows again.

i disabled remote control assist. I have a windows 10 home edition. I really need some serious answers. and Idk how to go about this with backing up the files on the drive cause I have some stuff on it. I did not expect the usb hub to shutdown and disconnect me like that

Ok. Let's assume your pc is named "problematic-pc" and have logged in with admin account named "myaccount".
The pc is connected to lan with another pc named "backup-pc".
On backup-pc you create another admin account named "myaccount" ( with same password as on problematic-pc).
You log on to backup-pc with myaccount, open elevated command prompt and execute command:
  • shutdown /s /f /m \\problematic-pc
Done, problematic-pc shuts down after a minute.

so, uhmm. Start over? Oh god, installing windows is just impossible for me. I can build everything and make it work. Get things running. But fucking windows 10 will just not cooperate with me. Am I just unlucky?
