Alright so here's the deal. Sometimes, without any warnings, my computer just turns off. It's not crashing, it just turns off like someone had pulled the power cable. Usually it happens when i play a game that requires more resources, like Overwatch. I have not been able to pin what the problem is, and it does it at random. Sometimes i can't play more than 15 minutes, and sometimes I can play for 6 days in a row without a problem. Here's my specs :
CPU : AMD FX-9590 (Which I think might be the problem, i've read everywhere it's garbage)
MOBO : Asus Crosshair V
Ram :16 GB (2 sticks of 8 GB) of G.Skillz Trident X 2400 Mhz
GPU : MSI GTX 1070
PSU : Seasonic 850W Gold
I'm running on windows 10, installed on a WD caviar black 1TB
And the CPU is cooled by a Corsair Hydro H110i GTX
So far, here's what i've tried :
-I made sure all the cables were plugged properly (you never know )
-I cleaned all the dust
-I made sure all my temps were fine, CPU runs at about 65 under load ( which is very good for that monster! )
-I changed the PSU, since it thought it could be power related. I had a silverstone 750W, so maybe it wasnt powerful enought. Seems like it wasnt the problem.
- Then I thought i could be a RAM problem, so I removed a stick and it worked for about 6 days like a charm, then it started doing it again. I couldn't get it to work again after trying the other stick alone, or changing slots.
-I tried my old GTX 760 to see if the GPU could be the problem since it's fairly new (about a month old) but it didn't work either.
So that's where i am now. My guess is the CPU is just bad. I've had it for a year now. When i first saw it I bought it because I was impressed by the numbers (5 GHz is really impressive),
Money is not really a problem but the new Ryzen CPUs aren't cheap either, as I would like to buy in the high-end. I like my rig to be durable. I just wanted to see if we could find an answer before buying a new CPU, cuz that means a new MOBO too and probably some new RAM too. And while I'm at it I should get an SSD.
Any ideas ?
P.S.: first time posting on the forums. I've read alot of topics that helped me in the past and I'm happy to join the community.
P.S.S. : A friend suggested me that it could be my power bar, so i plugged the pc directly in the wall to see what happens
