So I've had a MSI R9 280 3GB for a while. Its still in decent condition.

Looking for a CPU which will not cause any bottle-necking.

Price wise I would like to spend the least amount as possible.

Some people have tested the G4620 Pentium 3.5 Ghz and it has bottle necked with a RX 480 which is similar to the R9 280. Am I heading for I3 chips or possible AMD?

Solution
Bottlenecking is going to depend on the game. There are still games (like CS:GO) which will run well on a dual-core CPU, there are games that will require you to have a true quad-core CPU (i.e. a 2C/4T CPU like a Core i3 or that Pentium G4620 will run much slower than a Core i5 chip, or even slower than some AMD FX chips), & some games will even see measurable performance differences between chips like a Core i5 (4C/4T) & a Core i7 (4C/8T).

Some things to consider, though:
-- Are you upgrading an existing system? If so, what are the specs?
-- If you're building a new system (or building a 2nd one with this R9 280), what budget do you have?

If you are wanting to go as cheap as possible and not bottleneck a 480? Look at an AMD FX-8. I have seen the FX-8300 going for as low as $89 and pretty much everywhere has them for $100 and you will find several vids on YouTube where they pair a 480 with an FX-8 and are getting really nice framerates and at $100 USD? Its probably the most powerful chip you can get for that low a price.
