SSD is ok until add second hard drive

Installed ssd with win 10, boots and works fine.
added a 2tb hard drive, show in bios, but pc won't bootup
displays the small 4 pane window with the revolving circle of dots.

Tried switching ports, cables, have a 600w power supply

Check for BIOS updates for your mobo. Ensure HDD is connected to a higher numbered SATA port.

If the HDD was previously a boot disk for this machine, disconnect SSD, boot from HDD and try to set it as non-bootable with a partition management program. Then power down, reconnect SSD, and power up again.
