hey everyone
i have an optiplex 755 q6600 (2.4 ghz)
i have 8gb ddr2 ram installed
the manufactured ram clock speed is 800 mhz but it is running at 398 mhz can i make it run nearly 800 mhz through anyway
also the xmp option is not available in bios of this pc
now how can i make my ram run at more clock speed for better performance
please reply
thanks in advance :)

There are errors in hardware monitoring software that won't read *exactly* what your hardware is doing, from CPU speed to memory speed to temps. But you are close enough to that 800 to make it within error specs. Now if it was reading something like 333MHz (DDR2 667MHz sticks) then I'd be concerned.
You are running 400MHz in each rate (it's reading 398MHz). DDR means Double Density Rate, so 400 x 2 = 800. That's your 800MHz. Dell has the XMP option obviously built into the BIOS so you can't change it. It's always there, full time. Hardware monitoring programs like CPU-Z will show half your full speed. Note below in my CPU-Z sig that my DDR3 1866MHz memory is reading at 933MHz:

Frequency 933.2 MHz - Ratio 1:7
