Hi,

I've been having this problem for a while now. Since winter last year. My computer is getting slower and slower at simple functions, while in games it performs fine.

For certain games (where the map file is huge), it used to take around 1 or 2 minutes to load in, now it's taking 5 or 6 minutes. While the game is running also, it's extremely slow to do anything, freezes constantly, and even after shutting the game down, it stays like this for a good 10 minutes, sometimes it never goes back to normal.

Is this a RAM problem? HDD? I don't have an SSD. Everything is on a 500GB WD HDD. As for temps, GPU is solid at 60 under load, 40 without. CPU maxes at ~62.

Problem is getting worse and would like to solve it quickly.

Oscar, you make no mention of your programs that load at startup. Some problems can be traced to issues here.

If you are running a stock Win 10 installation, it would be a good idea to disable as much of the indexing and telemetry as possible. 3rd party programs or Group policy settings/registry edits are a must, as there are not menu options for all of this.

Some hardware driver updaters / additional software fluff can cause these issues. No idea on your hardware/drivers/additional software.

Microsoft's Sysinternal Utilities: Process Explorer and Autoruns are helpful for tracing some of this stuff down

As mentioned above, cleanup your drive. Clean your registry. Clear your internet cache as well. Not much you can do about all...

do you run revo uninstaller(or some similar such uninstaller that will remove all the junk that a program installs)?
Might have to clean up your registry and remove some of the crud that's loaded up at start up. Sounds like your system has been larded up. Defrag the HD. And you could help us further by getting us a CPU load usage info set and a memory usage info set as well. Lastly, check on your pagefile setup, the pagefile can get out of control sometimes and that can cause slow downs.

I don't run Revo Uninstaller. As far as CPU and Memory Usage, for CPU it varies from 10% to 60% when loading in and out of different games. For the Memory, it stays between 3Gb out 8, then under gaming goes up to around 5 or 6, and that's with intense graphics and such, for other games, it's lower.

My Disk usage is nearly 100% all the time. Rarely goes down unless it's doing nothing for a while. Even the search bar and stuff is starting to freeze now on W10. Idk if this matters, but my HDD has 113Gb free, it was nearly only 50Gb a year ago and I didn't have any performance issues.

As mentioned above, cleanup your drive. Clean your registry. Clear your internet cache as well. Not much you can do about all the MFT entries that collect after awhile, but using a 3rd party program (such as ultradefrag or your other preference) to defrag your drive may be helpful, especially if it can consolidate those entries. Contig MAY be helpful for specific entries as well
