I have a old aspire X3200, and my CPU fan broke so i am thinking of getting a new CPU cooler Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo but it lookes like I can't take the backplate off.

Socket[AM2+]

I will try to get a pic of the backplate soon

Solution

Okay, it will work but it will provide less air flow to the rest of the components since the fan won't be facing the motherboard. That's why the low profile cooler makes more sense for your system.

You should be able to remove the backplate, those CPU coolers are removable and your motherboard should look like this:

Thanks I took a look again and I found out that you have to push the 4 pins out hard cause a sticky green template is holding it @YoAndy do you think that a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo fit or even work on a am2+ socket ? [On the site it said it can but I ain't sure :/]
