So, guys, sorry for my bad english first I want to say. Now to the theme. I bought a GPU card a while ago. Its a Sapphire radeon r9 vapor-x 280x 3gb. My PSU is a Chinese brand-500w bronze certified and it's probably an okay psu. The problem is that my card wants two 8-pin cables to power up and my psu provides only one 8-pin and one 6-pin. I tried some different metods with adapters and they didn't work. I saw on the internet, that people are powering up their GPUs with second power supplies and I know that it is possible cuz one friend of mine has done that. My situation is a little bit different tho. So, I have a power supply from an old PC. Its a 350watt one. My idea is, because my main pc PSU provides one of the 8-pin cables, can I take the other one from the other PSU. The energy, needed by the GPU is going to come like 50/50. 50% from the main PSU and 50% by the other one. The logic is pretty dope i think lol. Do you guys think its possible? I appreciate any help! ❤️❤️

First off, does the second PSU, the 350W, have an 8 pin connector? If not, you'll need to use a molex to 8 pin adapter. Since you won't be using that second PSU to power anything else, it might work.

I wouldn't do something like that myself. For one thing, a 280x uses a fair bit of power. Cards like this really need the correct PSU. If I was you I'd try selling these two PSUs and buying the right kind that you need.

Yea, I know, I already ordered 2xMolex to 8-pin. So it should work, thanks buddy! I just wanted to be sure. In some time I will upgrade my psu for sure! But now I'll try it this way. I have one more question tho. Will the 8-pin from my main psu provide the same power as the 8-pin from the other psu? Cuz basically they are the same typo of cables, so it should work? Haha
