Games freezing for seconds at a time at the worst times

For about a month now, some of my games such as CS:GO and Garry's Mod have been randomly freezing for 2 to 3 seconds at a time at the worst possible times such as when someone fires a gun, or I die or get shot at. As you can imagine, in CS:GO this is catastrophic when you are playing in a competitive match and you keep dying due to this glitch and lose the 3v1 clutch you turned into a 1v1. In Garry's Mod, I noticed it happening when someone envokes in voice chat. In CS:GO, there is also a bit of lag when you open up the buy menu sometimes. My computer specs are as follows:

AMD FX-6300 6-Core 3.5 GHz CPU
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti GPU
8 GB RAM
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-78LMT USB3
Those are the major components, if you want more specifics let me know.

I have tried verifying the integrity of game cache for CS:GO, defragmentating drivers, and downloading the latest GPU driver. Any help is appreciated!

-Are you using WIFI or Ethernet Cable?
-Is there a program doing something heavy in the background during these spikes? (Antivirus scan, etc.)
-Have you overclocked anything in your computer? (Played with voltages at all)
-What is your usual fps in these games before the spikes?

Having these spikes at the same time as people start shooting and things in your game start happening suggests that it could just be massive framerate drop

I am using a wifi network adapter
The background programs I have are skype because I am usually in a skype call when I play, my antivirus program (Norton, but it is not performing a scan when I am playing, and Steam.
I have never overclocked anything in my pc before
my usual FPS is around 90.

I'm 99.99% sure that it is not a massive framerate drop because the freeze lasts for more than a second and thus it wouldn't last 3 seconds, and also because I watch the framerate counter on Steam when it happens and it stays at whatever it was before the freeze.

This is a common problem when using WIFI adapters, you get disturbances all the time because of all types of interferences.
When youre using WIFI, something as little as someone walking in between your pc and your router for just a moment can cause lag like the one youre experiencing, and thats with the higher end Adapters and routers. With lower end WIFI equipment it will just lag all the time no matter what.

Youre definitely going to have to switch to using an Ethernet cable to get rid of your lag, but believe me youre going to see a huge boost in performance in download speed, general ping and lack of lag spikes.

Hope it helps, good luck fellow gamer.

Ok I might not be able to use an ethernet because of the distance between my pc and router and also having an Ethernet cable running through the house does not look the best but I have heard of some PCI card or something like that that you can use instead of a wireless adapter so I will try that. Thanks!
