So I built my PC yesterday with help from the components forum :) Everything worked perfectly until today.
I had a game on pause, (think I was downloading the new geforce experience drivers as well, not sure) went away came back and the screen was frozen whitish, unresponsive. Turned off manually and would not turn back on again. What I mean is GPU has lights, fans spin. The motherboard however doesn't beep straight away, maybe after 15 seconds it beeps then the monitor recognizes its connected but only as a black screen, no mobo splash, saying a low resolution (640 X something). However if I remove the GPU and HDMI into the mobo the computer works perfectly.

Things I have tried-

  • Removed each memory module individually and tested with GPU
    Taken battery out of mobo
    Updated BIOS to latest version
    Cried a bit
    Removed SSD
    Turned on/off fast boot
    Turned on/off legacy boot
    Disabled onboard graphics
Disable onboard graphics in the BIOS and tried with gpu (5 beeps black screen)
Fully cleaned the old GeForce drivers

Any advice would be appreciated. I could understand if it didnt work in the beginning but to work and now stop has left me confused. THANKS !!

My Build
GIGABYTE B250M-DSH
8GB 2400mhz DDR4 Corsair Vengeance
EVGA 600w PSU
GeForce Msi Gaming 1060 6GB
i5 7500
Asus Vg 24 inch monitor
Crucial 250GB SSD

However if I remove the GPU and HDMI into the mobo the computer works perfectly.
that did point to either the PSU or the gtx1060 has problem, because you did remove and reinstall the GPU driver, so it is not the driver problem.

Recommend to test the 1060 in other PC, or use other PSU.

Which model is your EVGA 600W? I read your old thread for building the gaming PC. If you picked the wrong PSU, the problem maybe from the PSU, because not all the 600W PSU are the same. The 600W does not tell you the whole store.

I got the EVGA 600w 80 plus. I have not got another PSU or PC to test my GPU in unfortunately. I have not been able to reinstall the 1060 drivers because it keeps saying that compatible hardware not found

So. I went into the BIOS and chose to boot from the IGFX. reset, put the GPU back in, managed to boot normally to windows with the HDMI in the mobo. Device Manager recognizes my card as a 1060, i installed the latest drivers but it says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". I still cant boot with the PCI as my primary in the BIOS

That's the two most logical solutions. I'm having a problem understanding why it worked to start with then suddenly decided to not start. I will attempt to try my local shop but don't hold out much hope. I live in Spain and my Spanish leaves a lot to be desired..

So I reformatted by SSD. Installed windows again, my GPU is showing up as a Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. The NVidia drivers will not find my GPU and install though
