I've got a rather nice spec laptop which I got for far cheaper than I should have as I used to work for Arrow Electronics and kept an eye out for something like this for a while.

There's no specific model or part number to the unit that I have so far been able to find. It's a custom unit from PCSpecialist which based on the GT60 (Same specs and MOBO i7-4910mq + GTX970m with the MS-16F4).

Yesterday while adding ram to the two slots on the top, my cat decided the ribbon was her new Nemesis and pounced..... so yeah....

The part that's broken is the complete physical connection that the ribbon slides into on the motherboard which has come off. I know how to jump star the units with broken power buttons by crossing the wires, but I can't for the life of me work out with this one.... and of course it's not set to wake on LAN *facepalm*

Is it at all possible or worth trying to repair this? or should I just cut my loses; strip out and sell the working parts.

I'm not too hacked of as I could of been simply because I've just spent my tax rebate + sold all my loose unnecessary bits (literally about 10 mins ago) on bits to rebuild my Alienware Tower; i'll probably end up posting on that as I go just to sense check with people who may, and likely do, know better than I.

I'd really appreciate some advice on this

Cheers :)

Than you would need a new motherboard Might be able to find a pc repair shop that can reattach that connection. Which really the only option.
