would you be willing to recommend a case? I'm planning on going with the "MSI Z170A PC Mate LGA 1151 ATX Intel Motherboard", Already over 1grand on the comp, so and affordable recommendation would be appreciated.

Z270 is a more appropriate board when one is installing a Kaby Lake CPU. Z170? Skylake

Will the Z170A not work? I am getting it at less than half the price I could for the Z270A.

No it won't work. Sorry about that. Let's say you already had that board with a i5 6400 installed. Some time has passed and you have been wanting the 7600K. You can apply a BIOS update(available at the motherboard's website) and install the 7600. Install a 7600 straight out of the box? No.

You could change to a 6600K with that board. Takes similar DDR4 RAM.
