Liquid cooling causing freeze ups?

After I switched out my AMD Wraith cooler for my fx-6350 with a Corsair Hydro Series Quiet Edition water cooler, my PC was slow and froze up quite a bit. It even crashed at some points. So I assumed I had put on too much thermal paste and attempted to redo the thermal paste job. I put less on, and it seemed to help it perform better, but it still freezes up sometimes. I don't know if I still have too much or what, can you guys help me figure this out?

I'm not positive, but before it idled in the 20°c range and around 40°c but now everythings about 5-10° higher. Again I'm not sure the temperature really even rose that much.
