Is it possible to convert a USB 3.0 case header to USB type c header?

Hi folks,

Title says it all I've got the inwin 909 plus case which had 2 USB 3.0 header cables but my board only supports one. I noticed the board had the new type C header so is there a adapter I can get to change one of the cables to a type c header so I can connect it to that instead?

If you can what would be the ramifications? I'm assuming speeds shouldn't be affected but would it effect anything else?

If you can't has anyone used the 3.0 splitter cable? I know 3.0 only supports 2 ports so connecting 4 will bottleneck it but I don't really care I'm just using it to connect my keyboard and mouse so it's not really a big deal.

Thanks for the advice.

Type-C is only a connector shape, it works with USB 1/2/3-gen1/gen2, as do Type-A.

All you need to use Type-C on the existing type-A ports is an A-to-C adapter.

I believe the OP means the new USB 3.1 Gen 2 Front Panel header.

Yes there is one cable which utilise this but it has a female type C port on the other end.

Using a splitter means it shares the bandwidth of one USB 3.0 header. You don't need to connect your mouse and keyboard to the front panel's usb ports as you can simply plug them into your motherboard's back USB ports.
