ok so I RMA'd my 2 yr old 980 ti acx2.0 sc 6gb through evga and they sent me a 1070 acx3.0 sc 8gb. i was just wondering since the price difference being more for 980ti can someone shed some light to me is this a better deal or i received a lost here?

Solution
agree with anort3.infact i am also a user of 980ti and i am still happy with it.but being the 1070 is newer and supposedly better than a 980ti,i say u are in good hands =D

well the 1070 is indeed faster than a reference 980ti.not to mention it have a faster clock, boost and memory speed.also a newer technology and less power draw.so yeah i don think its a bad deal at all.only thing is less shading unit and render outputs and bigger bandwith (256 vs 384bit).but still overall 1070 is better.

The 1070 will be slightly faster. The two cards are close but generally a factory overclocked 980 Ti = a stock or Founders Edition 1070. The 1070 they sent you is factory overclocked so it will be faster than your old 980 Ti.

I have an EVGA 980 Ti SC ACX+ myself. Still pretty happy with it at 1440p.

Edit: Also as kookie3010 mentioned above the 1070 uses quite a bit less power so that's a plus.
