So here is the build I did pics are below. The Pentium is a G4400 cuz the kid I built this for was only going to be playing garry's mod and minecraft, so no gpu was added too keep to their budget of $350. There was no room in the budget for both an ssd and hdd so we went with the larger capacity hdd for now.

The kid is not me btw.

How much RAM are we talking here?

The definite bottleneck, assuming you have sufficient RAM, will be the iGPU. Although they've gotten a lot better over the years, they still won't compare to most dedicated GPUs.

However, since Minecraft is CPU-bound and I believe Garry's Mod is pretty light in general (I could be wrong, never played it!) you might be alright with the iGPU. Minecraft will actually probably be held back by the CPU.

It's a good build for light gaming and general use. If you could milk the budget a bit, and could get a G4560 instead, you'd get the 2 extra threads which would be nice.

with integrated GPU, u can't crank the settings high / put some heavy mods on both of the games, but they should work just fine. if he kid is planning on modding the minecraft though (with texture mod especially), i suggest u do include a discrete graphic card

Yeah. He told me the next thing he is going to save up for is a new GPU. I told him that since he is planning on playing newer games in the future (We built the system based on what he needed right now) I would recommend either a 4 gb rx 560 or gtx 1050 TI.

Well I got 8 gb crucial ddr4 memory running in dual chanell.

Better go with the GTX 1050ti, it's simply better
BTW, get the g4560 instead if u can, it supports hyperthreading which means it can rival i3, at almost half of the price...
