I am currently using http://imgur.com/a/5SvwD (SMC smcwbr146-n3) for the past seven years. It was the very first router my ISP set up for me and was very cheap. I pay for a 8 Mbps connection. I'm not planning on upgrading to a better package since internet is expensive in my country.

The problem is that there are 3-6 devices that are connected at my home at any given time (3 mobiles, 2 laptops and a PS4). I've found that when multiple devices are connected to the network everything becomes really slow. If I'm downloading anything or streaming games, the speed drops down considerably if someone else is using the network besides me. Youtube videos take a lot of time to load as well. Also, I can only use the network in one room since the range is really bad. This is my speedtest http://imgur.com/a/rd13j

So here is my setup : I have a PS4 connected via the ethernet cable in Room A and the router is kept in Room B (where I spend the majority of my time on the laptop).

What I'm planning to buy : I'm thinking of buying either a Linksys AC1200 or TP-LINK AC1750 since it is mid range for me.

What I'm looking for : Mainly I want several devices to be connected to the router without a loss of speed. I also want to stream games without any lag or pixelation.

I've also been told that the more the AC, the better the speed. So is the TP-LINK AC1750 better than the Linksys AC1200? The TP-LINK AC1750 is cheaper than the Linksys AC1200 router. Does the brand matter in this case? Which one should I go for?

With an 8Mbps connection.. if you look at one of the older wifi standards out there (wireless G) is capable of putting out 54Mbps.

You mention youtube takes longer to load and etc, that would be purely down to your INTERNET being used more, hence slower per device connected.

Don't get me wrong, if you get a better router you could potentially get something smarter with support for Quality Of Service (QOS) which might let you prioritize certain traffic.

If getting a newer router, be sure it's dual-band. (like the ones you've mentioned)

Thanks for the reply :)

So according to you, which router should I get which fill my requirements? Linksys AC1200 or Tp-Link AC1750? I'm confused which one to buy. I'm also not planning on upgrading my internet speed. So which one should I go for?
