I've got a intel G31 motherboard with a core 2 duo E7400 cpu and a Kingston Pc2 6400 - 400 MHz 4GB (2x2) Ram module. I am looking forward to upgrade my cpu to intel Q6600 (Core 2 Quad) which the mb supports, to increase speed video rendering speeds (As I am using this PC mainly for Video Editing). Would The RAM be compatible with the Q6600?

Solution
That is about the worst platform for video editing, because it's limited to ~3.25GB usable memory even in a 64-bit OS whether or not you are using the IGP. G31 is unable to remap hardware addresses above 4GB so you lose use of memory under it.
pc 2 6400 is ddr2 800mhz and yes its compatible with the q6600
i would consider upgrading to 16 gig or more if your video rendering and you can afford the 20 quid or so that it would cost.

while the q6600 is an upgrade its a pretty poor 1 especially for video rendering when you can get ---
