Im building my first pc very soon and I was wondering if my case is exposed to lightning or thunderstorms since there is a bit of metal on it on the top and the side panels are metal?
and are the components in danger aswell?

Solution

it will be the rarest of the rarest occasions lightning hits it. it is basically impossible. i mean think of it how many houses have you heard of getting struck by lightning. and then the added chances of it hitting the computer. it is imposible pretty much.

You can take steps to minimise the effects of power surges and fluctuations caused by lightning strikes by installing an RCD - if you are in an area prone to lots of electrical storms, and if the data is precious, you can use a UPS. But as parker_307 said, it is wholly unlikely that the actual PC will get hit. The majority of PC cases are made from at least 50+% metal.

I apologise not you m8. My English is really bad. I ment in case that there is a thunderstorm going on I would turn off and unplug every piece of technology in my house. So there is even a smaller chance for the pc getting hit.
