I have a Seagate Enterprise hard drive (ZBSOPBQS) connected to my computer which is shown as empty on the sata port but if I run the windows 7 installer CD I can see the drive as disk 0 unallocated space but am unable to install or create a partition as I get the error code 0x8007045d. If I go to repair windows and run the command prompt the drive doesn't show up even with the mountvol command. For some reason I am unable to boot windows on a different system with this hard drive installed so I can't use any Windows Utilities.
Hardware:
Seagate Enterprise Capacity 3.5 HDD v5 1TB ZBSOPBQS
MSI Z87 G43 Motherboard
Any help is greatly appreciated.

What is the full model of the drive? It is likely a firmware issue at the very least and possibly more severe internal issues with the drive that is preventing the drive from functioning. It is unlikely a DIY recovery case.

If the data is of no value, replace the drive. If the data is of value, seek professional data recovery assistance. The labs that I recommend who are both affordable and very capable of handling almost any recovery situation they get are:

Recovery Force
Data Medics
Data Savers
PC Image
Data Busters

If you are lucky enough, it will be a somewhat simple recovery for a professional and cost well under $500 USD.

Hi Jay,

If the data on your old drive needs to be recovered, we would suggest to try some of of the free recovery programs mentioned earlier. In case that doesn't work or the drive does not respond at all any more, you could give our In-Lab Recovery Service a shot. We will analyse your drive free of charge in regards to which data can be recovered. If we are not able to recover your data, this service will not cost you a penny. You are only paying for this service if we are able to recover your data!

Additionally, it is not entirely clear if the faulty drive might still be under warranty. Please go ahead and check your possible remaining warranty HERE and we might be able to assist that way.
