Earlier this morning my internet started acting... strange. Suddenly my net dropped out and I had to troubleshoot. What I ended up finding was that, for some inexplicable reason, I can no longer connect to google - at all.
Things I've tried:
Had to switch back to normal DNS. Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) makes the internet drop.
Can connect to google on phone's mobile data, but not from my PC.
Ran the following commands in admin on command prompt:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
and a couple of netsh winsock commands I found through a search. I forget what specifically. I had to restart my PC for these.
Used CCleaner to clean up my PC and registry (3k registry errors gone, backed up just in case)
I've unplugged my modem and router for a couple minutes before plugging them back in.
I've hard reset my router (and set it back up).
I've attempted to run the windows network help thing.
I've done nslookup of google (Server: UnKnown) and tracert of google (times out).
From what I can tell, it's a problem on my end. Any ideas?
UPDATE:
I've isolated the problem to my router. It's a TP Link AC1200. I'm going to try to update the firmware, but when I'm connected directly to the modem from my ISP, I have internet access just fine.
