Games randomly freeze up or do not even start (not overheating)

Until very recently, my PC worked fine without any issues of any kind. I've mostly been playing Rainbow Six Siege lately but until 2 days ago, the game keeps on freezing, forcing me to force quit the game via task manager. After a couple of tries I realized its with every game, it just starts freezing randomly, not even on high-demanding areas (sometimes already in the main menu of games) certain games won't even start anymore. I have reinstalled a couple of games, cleaned the hardware, checked if it was overheating, none of the which have helped.

Specs:
OS: Windows 10
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @3.40 GHz
GPU: Nvidia GTX 970
RAM: 16GB
2TB HDD & 250GB SDD

Could it be that i need a new CPU? Or is it Software related?

First thing you simply have to do is reinstall graphics drivers, here is a video tutorial if you need a walkthrough:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQ7lF-rrJrA

Next, tell your graphics card to run at full power:
To change this setting, with your mouse, right-click over the Windows desktop and select "NVIDIA Control Panel"
-> from the NVIDIA Control Panel, select the "Manage 3D settings" from the left column
-> click on the Power management mode drop down box and select "Prefer Maximum Performance"

You can also tell your cpu it is allowed to use full power by going into control panel under the Power Options and setting it to High performance.
*Both these tweaks are safe and are NOT overclocking*

After doing these things your problem should subside.

Good luck, hope this helps.
