Hello, Iv'e installed a new 256GB SSD on my Dell inspirion 15-7559. the computer came with 1TB HDD built in disk drive, and the WIN 10 OS is installed on him. i want to format my computer completely from the start, and install the WIN 10 OS on the 256GB SSD and make him the C drive, and the 1TB HDD make him a D drive for my stuff. i have a 0% knowledge in this, i want to learn how to do that process on my own with guides or something like that. thanks for the help.

Very Important! As said above, make sure the old HDD is NOT connected while you install Windows to the new SSD, or the boot manager files "may" get installed to the HDD, which you don't want to happen. Because once you get Windows installed on the SSD and the HDD is connected later, if you format the HDD, Windows will no longer boot up if the boot files are gone.

P.S.
there was extra place for the new SSD that i installed, so i have both of them plugged in.

There are some good YouTube videos as well. Watch a few and you will feel more comfortable.
Here are some additional tips:

  • ■ to reinstall Windows you need to put the operating system on a USB drive. You do this using the Windows Media Creation Tool. Google that.
    ■ when you go to reinstall Windows, only have the SSD connected. Get your system running with the SSD as the boot drive before you reintroduce the old HDD
